Losing billions in revenue due to downtime can be avoided
A study conducted by CA Technologies indicates that downtime of IT infrastructures causes European companies to loose 17 billion Euros per year. That’s the equivalent of 13.5% of the proposed EU budget for 2011.
Is the cloud business ready?
Forming an opinion about cloud computing can be difficult since so much has been written on this subject – and many of the articles are diametrically opposed. The usability and technical advantages of cloud computing described in those articles are not always crystal clear, and often raise more questions than answers. As such, organizations need help in guiding them through the fog that has been created by this diversity of opinions.
Control your cloud with the iPad
Since a few months I am the proud owner of an iPad. Because of our US subsidiary we were able to buy this beautiful designed little computer before it was officially released in The Netherlands, which made me feel even more proud. The feeling of owning a brand new toy is great. The thought of it makes my heart beat faster already.
Technology in the tropics
I just got back from a few weeks holiday in Suriname. Before my departure I had resolved to fully enjoy my vacation, the wonderful country and beautiful nature. That’s why I didn’t bring my laptop.
Traditional infrastructure; the perception of being in control
“When I move my infrastructure to the cloud I loose control over it”. A remark I often hear when talking to businesses or reading surveys. Before we get into the depth of it let’s first take a moment and discuss ‘control’.
Better service at lower costs with cloud computing

Traditional Infrastructure models vs. cloud models
We have put together a small presentation which compares traditional infrastructure capacity models to cloud capacity models. The presentation perfectly visualizes the benefits of cloud computing.
Increase in traffic Clubs.nl no problem for Jitscale
Clubs.nl is the first large social networking site in The Netherlands. Started in 1999 by ‘Het Net’ (KPN), the site offers members the ability to start their own club, which others can join. Every club has its own topic, which is passionately discussed by the various club members. Every day more clubs are created. Clubs.nl has over half a million active members and more than 15,000 active clubs.
Twelve tips for successful website migration
We come across or read about it regularly: sites, straight after going live with a new version, needing to shut down part of the site, reinstall the old site, or apply other make-shift solutions. Furthermore, it still happens frequently that when a new site goes live, all old links to that site stop working. Something that is preventable! This check list, put together by Joost de Valk of Onetomarket and Eelco van Beek of Jitscale, aims to help companies (and individuals) with launching a new version of their already existing site.
Web STD
Some weeks ago at the office we were honoured by the visit of Werner Vogels, CTO at Amazon and an STD expert par excellence. It was very interesting to learn about the motivations of a business to make STD its core business. Each page within Amazon.com is the result of tens of services, each one taking care of one part of the page. Why was this method chosen?
