Control your cloud with the iPad
Since a few months I am the proud owner of an iPad. Because of our US subsidiary we were able to buy this beautiful designed little computer before it was officially released in The Netherlands, which made me feel even more proud. The feeling of owning a brand new toy is great. The thought of it makes my heart beat faster already.
Not to offend the people who have not bought an iPad yet, the iPad is quite handy. Everything works well, but I am still searching for 100% usability. The iPad replaces a few gadgets like the e-reader, for example, but for some other things I prefer using my Macbook or iPhone. Making phone calls, multi-tasking and word processing still works best on the appropriate devices. The iPad can do both, but is not able to replace them.
Every morning when I wake up I grab my iPad to check the latest tweets via Flipboard, read the local news and check the weather. A good way to start your day completely updated with the latest news. I used to do this ritual with my other Apple toy the iPhone, but the size of the iPad screen is much better for my sleepy eyes in the morning.
From a business perspective I definitely see some added value of the iPad. Applications like Keynote, Pages and Numbers work perfectly on it and connecting your iPad to a beamer is a breeze.Things like the little red pointer makes giving a demo/presentation on the iPad a lot easier. Developing your own app to present your company to potential customers by using the iPad makes it the right gadget.
At Jitscale we too have built an iPad app. It provides you with a live insight into the management of your cloud platform by presenting graphics, statistics and meters. You can watch your platform being scaled up or down when the load on your platform changes. Furthermore, it is also possible to force the management of your platform. With a press of a button you can scale your application servers up if you expect the load to increase. Or you can do this just for the fun of it, because who can resist not to push the button and see in real-time how your platform reacts to it?
