It’s foggy in the cloud

Cloud computing has many different meanings for different people. There is no unanimous policy. In short, it is still foggy in the cloud, because cloud computing is a relative new phenomenon and can be used in many different situations.

What does cloud computing exactly mean, how can it benefit your organization and what are the risks? For a technical layman cloud computing is only a drawing of a cloud in which you collect data and where instances run your applications. For cloud providers it is clear which advantages cloud computing can offer. For potential customers the phenomenon is still something that triggers risks, something that ‘floats in the air’ and always raises the question: “Is it safe?” Many companies are wary of cloud computing and rather stay with physical hardware, safely stored in the data center.

Forming an opinion about cloud computing is not easy. You can find many articles about cloud computing and sometimes they are diametrically opposed.
